FMA Senior Scholarship

Senior Scholarships are awarded annually to a graduating senior in the music program who will be pursuing a degree at either a two or four year college. Applicants are required to answer a short essay question.

Senior Essay Scholarship Guidelines

SENIOR ESSAY CONTEST

“Music Makes A Difference”

Sponsored by the Foxboro Music Association

TOPIC: “How Music Education Has Made A Difference In My Life”
AWARD: The winner will receive a check to be used for future educational expenses (musical or non-musical). See note 2 below.
ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open to all SENIORS who are currently participating in Foxboro High School Band, Chorus or Orchestra.
FORMAT: 

  1. The essay should be typewritten and must be a MAXIMUM of 400 words in length. Entries over 400 words in length will not be considered for awards.
  2. The essay must not identify the writer by name or instrument.
  3. A poem or other literary work on the specified topic will also be acceptable.

DEADLINE: All essays must be submitted online by 10 PM on May 10, 2024. No late entries will be accepted.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The essay contest winner will be announced at the FMA Potluck Dinner on Friday, May 24, 2024. 

CONFIRMATION: You will receive a copy of your application sent to the email address you list in the form.

NOTE:

  • All essays will remain the property of the Foxboro Music Association. Entire essays or excerpts from essays may be used in the FMA newsletter or in other music advocacy materials. Your participation in the contest indicates your permission for FMA to use your essay and your name in promotional activities.
  • Depending on the quality of the essays, it is possible that no prize will be awarded, that only several smaller prizes will be awarded, or that other prizes will be awarded in addition to the first place award.
  • The decision of the judges is final.
