Dress Code

High School Concert Dress Code

Foxborough High School performance groups are known for their high level of professionalism and dedication to their music.  This impression is furthered by their impeccable dress on stage.  A first impression can never be undone.

Please review the following mandatory requirements for each performance group.

FHS Band and Orchestra

Women:
Tops: a nice, three-quarter sleeve or long sleeve black top is appropriate. We understand that it is hot sometimes, especially during Pops, but keep in mind that the men are wearing long sleeved dress shirts and jackets.

No tank tops should be worn. There should be absolutely no stomach, cleavage, back, or other unnecessary skin shown. Therefore, make sure that shirts are long enough, bottoms are high enough, and the neckline is modest enough

Bottoms: a long skirt or pair of dress pants is required. No skirt should be above the knee. This is necessary considering that we all sit on a stage that is above the audience, and also it is professional looking.  If pants are worn, they should be nice black dress pants, not jeans. They should be the kind of pants a business professional might wear to the office.

Shoes: Any black dress shoe is allowed.  No sandals, boot, or other casual-type shoes.  Be certain that the entire shoe is completely black; that is, no cork bottoms, colored designs, shiny buckles or any other colors. To be professional, please wear skin color pantyhose with skirts, and black socks or black trouser socks with pants.

Men:
Men must wear black suits with white long sleeved dress shirt with a long tie.  Please wear black socks and black dress shoes.

Jazz Lab and Ensemble Band

Same dress as FHS Concert Band except men will wear ties issued by Music Department.

Marching Band

During Marching Band Camp, students will receive their Marching Band t-shirts (fee required).  The t-shirts are to be worn for all night rehearsals for Marching Band, for in-school pep rallies (along with black pants and shoes), and for marching in the Founder Day parade (along with black pants and marching band shoes).  Incoming freshman are also required to purchase marching band shoes.  Order forms for both the t-shirts and shoes are mailed home to all Marching Band students during the summer months.

Marching Band uniforms will also be distributed during Marching Band camp.  PLEASE pay close attention to the care instructions given out with the uniforms.

Concert and Chamber Choirs

Women:
Women are required to purchase a two piece black performance outfit comprised of a long skirt and a short sleeved top through the school.  All ladies will wear identical pearl necklaces.  The choir director will give information about purchasing the outfit and necklace well before the first concert.

Please wear flat or low heeled black dress shoes.  Women should refrain from wearing excessive jewelry, including but not limited to large earrings,  bracelets that jingle when you move, or any necklace other than the pearl necklace purchased through the school.

Men:
Men must wear black suits with white long sleeved dress shirt with a long tie, preferably yellow.  Please wear black socks and black dress shoes.

Jazz Choir

Women:
Women are required to wear a black blazer, black shirt, and black dress pants. Please wear flat or low heeled black dress shoes.  Women should refrain from wearing excessive jewelry.

Men:
Men must wear black suits with white long sleeved dress shirt with a long tie.  Please wear black socks and black dress shoes.

Ahern Ensembles

Music teachers from the Ahern will notify students and parents about the dress code for their ensemble.  In the past, band and orchestra typically wear all black, while chorus wear black bottoms with a solid color top. Black shoes are requested for all.
