Lend a hand to FMA by volunteering…

There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer and make a difference in FMA.   The following is just a few suggestions:

Annual Bottle & Can Drive

Each September the FMA and music students collect bottles and cans for redemption.  Thanks to our volunteers this fundraiser typically nets over $1,500.  However, many people are needed to make this event a success.

How can you help?

  • Be an adult driver.  Adult drivers transport students to neighborhoods all over Foxboro for pickups from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Help sort donations.  Parents, students, and siblings sort incoming bottles and cans in the Town Hall parking lot from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Save your bottles & cans. Be sure to collect your bottles and cans and tell your friends and neighbors how they can help.

Concert Support

Volunteers are always needed during concerts to help with ticketing, handing out programs, and concessions.  This is a great way to help the FMA and enjoy the show.

For more information, contact Melody Leighton (momof7munchkins@gmail.com) – Ticket Sales Coordinator
Michelle Gardner (mgardner@us.ibm.com)  or Dorothy Relyea (Deerelya@comcast.net) — Concessions Coordinators

FMA Cookouts and Guest Receptions

FMA hosts several receptions for guest artists as well as cookouts for the students.  To help offset costs, volunteers are asked to donate items such as baked goods, paper goods and other food items.  A signup email will be sent out before the event requesting specific items needed.

For more information, contact the Hospitality Chairperson, Dale Andersen at huddlehous@comcast.net.

Foxborough High Schools is one of the hosting sites for the annual MICCA Festival.  MICCA (Massachusetts Instrumental and Choral Conductors Association) usually takes place in early spring and brings hundreds of visitors from schools around the state.

FMA volunteers are needed to help with concessions, tickets sales and other aspects of hosting this annual event.   For more information, contact MICCA coordinators, Amy Spognardi and Liz Hall

FMA Meetings

The monthly FMA meeting is a great way to learn what is going with upcoming events and volunteer opportunities, and new faces are always welcome.  The meeting agenda typically includes committee reports, a budget update as well as reports from Mr. Massey, Ms. Tedoldi and Mr. Raymond.  Participating in meetings gives one the opportunity to weigh in on decisions and to help build our music community.  Check out the meeting page for dates and times of the next meeting.

FMA Volunteers for FCA (Foxboro Cable Access) Recordings!!

FMA would like to encourage you to consider this way of supporting us and music in the community. The amount of coverage any organization gets is a function of how many camera volunteers come forward. It is a partnership.

Please email Neil Kaiser at guncka@Verizon.net to let him know of your interest. He will then add you to his mailing list. He sends monthly calendars with requested needs and assignments. It is at that point that you accept an assignment, so your volunteering is flexible to suit your schedule.  He is most in need of elementary and middle school coverage, so please spread the word. THANK YOU!!
